Ridin' South at Carlsbad Village Theatre

We would like to introduce T.W. Rassmuessen who will be posting updates and taking care of us on this website. We thank him from the bottom of our hearts.

As the first and second generations of Rock n Roll ages into retirement or ease their way into the grave, the industry of "Tribute" shows has grown into a sizable chunk of the touring business. Often these shows will leave the audience with a hollow sense of maudlin remorse and longing for days gone by. Thus is not the case with Ridin' South - "A celebration of the life of Duane Allman and the music of The Allman Brothers Band."
Fronted by Mike Reilly, Ridin' South has the bona fides to true southern rock and ties to the Allman Family. Over the past couple of decades, Mr. Reilly has played with various members of the ABB and many other titans of southern rock. Some of these
luminaries and friends are Gregg Allman, Jaimoe Johnson, Lamar Williams, Marshall Tucker, Elvin Bishop and The Toler Brothers. Ridin' South whose maiden voyage is focused on "Live at Fillmore East" has captured the essence of the music and culture of the time.  In celebrating this watershed live recording, this true band of brothers captures and confers the zeitgeist of early 1970's psychedelia.
Augmented by the live over the top visual confection of old school oil and water lights presented by operation:MINDBLOW, the theater comes alive with the soul searing sounds of the live Southern Gothic tradition.  With the ringing of twin guitars, thunderous bass, dual drummers and the lush warmth of vintage Hammond B3 organ, the band creates a time machine of sorts.
Ridin' South will be playing 20th century theaters and road houses in select cities throughout the summer and fall of 2015. A spectacular show, such as this, is unlikely to surface once again. Tickets are available online as are previews clipped from their debut show at the historic Carlsbad Village Theater. Come join us in celebrating this moment in history with a group of friends whose claim to this sound has been validated by the music's originators themselves.

Allman Brothers tribute Band, Ridin South performs live "In Memory of Elizabeth Reed" at the Carlsbad Village Theatre June 13, 2015.
